Rules

softwarebid is a simple, transparent pay-to-rank leaderboard. Here is exactly how it works.

How does ranking work?

Each category is a leaderboard sorted purely by how much every listing has bid — highest bid sits at #1. Rank is not editorial and cannot be gamed; it is only ever a function of the amount paid.

What does a bid cost?

A brand-new spot starts at $5. You can bid any amount at or above that. You do not have to beat the current #1 to appear — a smaller bid still lands on the board at whatever position that amount earns.

How do I move up?

Raise your bid. If your product is already listed, submit the same URL again with a higher amount. You are only charged the difference between your current bid and your new one.

What happens when someone outbids me?

You keep your spot and your paid amount — you simply move down as higher bids come in. You can reclaim a higher rank at any time by raising your own bid.

Are bids one-time or recurring?

Bids are one-time payments, not subscriptions. Your position holds until another listing outbids you. There is no time limit and nothing auto-renews.

How are payments handled?

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. softwarebid never sees or stores your card details. Your rank updates the moment the payment clears.

What can I list?

Any legitimate software product, tool, app or service, submitted via its URL or handle. We automatically fetch the icon, title and description from the link you provide. No illegal, deceptive, or harmful products.

Refunds

Because a bid buys an immediate, live placement, bids are generally non-refundable. If a listing is removed for violating these rules, no refund is issued for the removed amount.

Removals

We may remove any listing that is illegal, misleading, malicious, or infringes others’ rights. Clicks and bids obtained through fraud or automation may be voided.
